April Edquiban is a Filipino-Haitian filmmaker whose work is deeply rooted in her rich cultural heritage and personal upbringing. She holds a BFA in film from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she focused on the directing craft. While trained in directing, April primarily works as a producer, using her unique background to shape narratives that resonate with authenticity and emotional depth. Her stories are a reflection of where she comes from—and the voices she’s committed to amplifying.

What does the American Dream mean to you? As a migrant, the American Dream, to me, is a testament of my love for my people. It is my ability to bring my dreams, made possible by all of my ancestors, to this country and making it come true with every card stacked against me. It is lighting path so no one else has to walk in the dark.
